Utopia

In 1963 the Racine mission was launched under the leadership of General De Gaulle. The aim is to create a large tourist center of the Languedoc coast which was previously untapped. These are 6 tourist units that will come out the sand and swamps of which La Grande Motte entrusted to the architect Jean Balladur. Inspired by the Teotihuacan site in Mexico, the architect imagine a city with pyramidal forms and harmonious overall unit. Long maligned, this visionary project matures after 40 years due a lush vegetation that now covers 70% of the city. In 2010, La Grande motte received the label ‟Heritage of the twentieth century‟.
‟There is no dreamer crazy enough to try to believe that he can build a city‟ Jean Balladur
